How have our bodies been shaped by the land? 

Empire teaches us disconnected from self, from each other, and from the land - this we know deeply. It is a radical act of healing to tend these threads of disconnection. To work at repairing what is severed, to rethread what was worn thin. 

And yet even when we raised in cultures that encourage us to deny who are we, what we are a part of, the lands we are rooted in - these relationships cannot be wholly abolished. 

The body is still communing with the land, even when we are not aware of it. 

The land is still communing with us, even if we weren’t taught to listen with our ears or our hearts. 

The land and our bodies are still deeply in relationship, even if it happening deep within, beyond language or noticing in our conscious waking. 

This relationship is innate; it can only be hidden from awareness but never truly destroyed. This relationship between body and land shapes us deeply. It always has, whether we were aware of it or not. 

How have you been shaped the land? by the land you walk on? By the lands of your peoples? 

How has walking the lands you walk, living and loving on those lands shaped who you have become? How you move in the world? 

What do our bodies know about this shaping? 

How do the waters, the earth, the plants, the sky, the birds, the crawling ones, the flying ones - how have they all impacted us? 

How have they contributed to who we are, how we are today? 

And how might we open our eyes and hearts and ears even further to understand the deep impact of these relationships? 

These are some of the questions we will be sitting with in this upcoming community session, Shaped by the Land. 

Join me for embodied writing exploration as we feel into these questions and more. Expect invitations into embodiment practice, reflection through writing or other creative processing, and intimate conversation. 

This online zoom session will be recorded, through it is meant to be experiential so please come live if you can!
